Marrero Sánchez es cineasta, guionista y artista interdisciplinaria. Su trabajo está relacionado con el duelo, la identidad, el colonialismo y el género. Su obra incluye cine, fotografía e instalación.
La Pecera, cuyo estreno fue en Sundance 2023 en la Competencia de Cine Dramático Mundial, marca su debut como directora de largometraje. Otras selecciones de su Ópera Prima incluyen: Selección Oficial de la Competencia Ingmar Bergman de la edición 46 de Gøteborg Film Festival, Selección Oficial de la edición 26 de Festival de Cine Málaga, Selección Oficial de la edición 39 del Chicago Latino Film Festival, entre otras.
En 2022 Glorimar fue seleccionada para dirigir un largometraje documental del 50 Aniversario de Mujeres Latinas en Acción, en Chicago, organización más antigua de los Estados Unidos dirigida por latinas. El estreno de este documental está previsto para el 2024.
En 2017 ganó el Premio a Mejor Guión en la Competencia de Guión Inédito de la XXXIX Edición del Festival del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana, Cuba. Ese mismo año estrenó Revuelo en Roosevelt, una pieza de videoarte encargada por el Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña y el Fondo Nacional de las Artes.
En 2018 obtuvo una beca para el desarrollo de La Pecera, a través del Fondo Latinoamericano del Tribeca Film Institute, y ganó el Primer Premio de los Emprendedores Audiovisuales Europeos (EAVE) en el MAFIZ del Festival de Cine de Málaga.
En 2019 ganó el Fondo de Coproducción del Programa IBERMEDIA para la producción de su primer largometraje La Pecera y estrenó el documental Juana (s) Matos, comisionado por el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico.
Glorimar ha sido artista residente en la Universidad de Chicago, MASS MoCA y el Programa de Estudios Latinoamericanos de la Universidad de Princeton. Su trabajo ha sido presentado en Puerto Rico, Cuba, México, Guatemala, Colombia, Estados Unidos y Europa. Actualmente reside y trabaja entre San Juan, Puerto Rico, Madrid, España y Hyde Park, Chicago.
Marrero Sánchez is a film director, screenwriter and interdisciplinary artist whose work is related to grief, identity, colonialism and gender. Her work includes film, photography and installation.
La Pecera marks her Feature Film Directorial Debut, premiered at Sundance 2023 at the World Dramatic Competition, Official Selection of the Ingmar Bergman Competition of the 46th Edition of the Gøteborg Film Festiva, Official Selection of the 26th edition of the Málaga Film Festival 2023, Official Selection of the 39th edition of the Chicago Latino Film Festival, among others.
In 2022 Glorimar was selected to direct a feature length documentary of the 50th Year Anniversary of Mujeres Latinas en Acción, in Chicago, the oldest Latina-led organization in the US.
In 2017, she won the Best Screenplay Award in the Unpublished Screenplay Competition of the XXXIX Edition of the New Latin American Film Festival in Havana, Cuba. That same year, she premiered Revuelo en Roosevelt, a piece of video art commissioned by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture and the National Endowment for the Arts.
In 2018 she obtained a grant for the development of La Pecera, through the Latin American Fund of the Tribeca Film Institute, and won the First Prize of the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) at the MAFIZ of the Malaga Film Festival.

Glorimar has been an artist-in-residence at the University of Chicago, MASS MoCA, and the Latin American Studies Program at Princeton University. Her work has been presented in Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, the United States and Europe. She currently resides and works between San Juan, Puerto Rico, Madrid, Spain and Hyde Park, Chicago.
